The exhibition THREAD/BARE presents a unique perspective on vulnerability and the power of resilience. A true baring of the soul, offered by an unlikely duo: visual artist Randal Newman and contemporary dancer AnneBruce Falconer. A tortuous yet redemptive exploration of the world of emotions—an inward gaze turned outward, brought to life through life-size photographs and an installation composed of red threads and plexiglass.
The installation questions the exposure of inner suffering and the moral strength of the human soul, described by the internationally acclaimed dancer as “a space of non-judgement and letting go.” Interdisciplinary performer AnneBruce Falconer will inhabit the installation for the duration of the visual performance.
A living laboratory navigating between dance, performance and visual arts, set to the sounds of classical music, original music and Sid Vicious’s provocative My Way. A living installation rooted in embodied experience, “allowing for the expression of profound vulnerability and transparency within a world of protection.” An invitation was extended to a dozen artists to perform within the THREAD/BARE installation. Responding to this bold call, Louise Bédard, Geneviève Bessette, Rachelle Bourget, Marc Daigle, Margie Gillis, Marie-Claire Forté, Jane Mappin, Susan Paulson, and Peter Trosztmer, transform themselves into performative installations, each presenting a deeply personal vision of vulnerability.
