In collaboration with the Fondation Jean-Pierre Perreault, the Regroupement québécois de la danse (RQD) invited professional dancers to discover Jean-Pierre Perreault’s oeuvre by revisiting the concept of Installation chorégraphique 1 : L’Instinct, a work created in 1994 at the Musée d’art contemporain in Montreal.
For Perreault, the choreographic installation allowed for new performance-space-time-action relationships where performers were invited to explore duration and movement as moments of immobility. The training session allowed dancers to develop their practice through the integration of crucial elements in Perreault’s work, such as awareness of space, silence, and relationship to time and others. The session was led by dancer and instructor Marc Boivin, with the assistance of dancer and rehearsal director Sarah Williams, in collaboration with rehearsal director and artistic consultant, Ginelle Chagnon.
