Interview with Winifred Burnet-Smith about his career and approach to teaching contemporary dance in an international context.

Originally from Brighton, England, the artist, who has spent many years in London, is one of the founders of the Hofesh Shechter Company.

Through a natural progression toward teaching, which occurred alongside her work as a dancer, Burnet-Smith emphasizes the importance of improvisation, authenticity, and intentionality in dance as ways to connect to one’s body and that of others – fostering a balance between creativity, a blend of genre and technique. She says: “I love feeling like I can whisper […]information into the bodies of dancers.” An interview in the En aparté series produced by Circuit-Est.
