Interview with Shelley Senter about his career and approach to teaching contemporary dance in an international context.

Originally from Colorado and currently living in New York, Sherlley Senter explores vertical pedagogy in contemporary dance. In the En aparté series by Circuit-Est, the artist tells us how her start as a dancer with Trisha Brown and her training in the Alexander technique inspired her to develop a pedagogy that advocates empowering dancers in their training and fosters a collaborative approach to developing knowledge. It is a call to question the learned, even automatic, behaviour of dancers in training and revisit the designated vocabulary to talk about the body in movement.
