During this focus day event, participants from the dance community explored different facets of authoriality. Among the topics discussed: How does this concept determine and/or influence the creative process? How do different cultures define authorship in dance and position themselves vis-à-vis this notion? How can we identify the contribution of dancers and dramaturgs to the completed work? What issues does the notion of authorship pose when a choreographic piece is transmitted or transformed?
The Fondation Jean-Pierre Perreault thanks the committee members who put together this event:
Georges Azzaria, legal expert and director of the École d’art at Université Laval; Mélanie Demers, choreographer and multiplatform artist; Danièle Desnoyers, choreographer, professor and director of the Department of Dance at UQAM; Katya Montaignac, researcher and dramaturg; Marc Boivin, dancer and instructor.
Many thanks to the Dance Department at UQAM for helping to organize the event, and to the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec for providing financial support.
