On April 1, 2015, the Fondation Jean-Pierre Perreault hosted the launch of Recréer/Scripter – Mémoire et transmissions des œuvres performatives et chorégraphiques contemporaines (Editor, Anne Bénichou) at the BAnQ Vieux-Montréal and the creative duo The Two Gullivers gave an interdisciplinary performance of Quand le dessin devient performance.
Recréer/Scripter explores approaches to remembering and reviving. Reenactments are seen as “performative archives,” which rely on a circulation of documents, bodies, scripts, and personal accounts. Documentation becomes the driving force behind creation, generating multiple reactivations through exhibitions, performances and websites. It is these multiple mutations that fascinate the authors–practitioners and theorists focused on dance and performance in Quebec, France and the United States.
