FAIRE CORPS with Daniel Léveillé

Date
December 13, 2023
Production
Mandala Sitù Danse and Espace Perreault
Solos, duets, pieces for large groups – in his 50-year career, Daniel Léveillé has created about forty choreographic works.
In an interview with Marie-Gabrielle Ménard, Léveillé, who in 2017 was honored with the Grand Prix de la danse de Montréal, discusses his relationship with the naked body as creative material, and the inspiration he draws from empty space and silence. He speaks of his admiration for Françoise Sullivan, Marguerite Duras and Marguerite Yourcenar, and of the pleasure Maman Fonfon gave him as a child. He confesses his joyful jealousy of Flemish choreographer Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker, and talks about the creation of some of her works, notably her version of The Rite of Spring.
