Rangoli Indian Dance Festival

2024
Coproduction

Organized by Veils of Bollywood, Festival Rangoli presents an immersive celebration of South Asian dance and culture, in connection with Canada’s Asian Heritage Awareness Month. Through a selection of dance workshops and roundtable discussions, the festival aims to ignite curiosity, foster connections, and support artists in a delicate ecosystem.

Focusing on inclusion, community, and education, Festival Rangoli offers a platform for everyone to discover and appreciate the rhythms and movements of Indian dance. Whether you are an experienced dancer or a newcomer, there’s something for everyone to explore and enjoy.

Through conversations and shared experiences, the festival seeks to deepen understanding of South Asian culture. The dance workshops cover both traditional techniques and contemporary styles: from classical Bharatanatyam to energetic Bhangra. The roundtable discussion offers a space for dialogue on the cultural significance of dance and its role in shaping identity and community.

Festival Rangoli took place in May 2024 to celebrate diversity, creativity, and the joy of dance, to honor the rich South Asian heritage.
