A workshop for amateur dancers and non-dancers
at Maison de la culture Villeray-Saint-Michel-Parc-Extension
September 25 and October 2, 2016
Part of the Journées de la culture
In the company of Sara Hanley and Daniel Villeneuve—two inspiring dancers who have performed Joe on stage—participants will don the iconic Joe costume (boots, a felt hat and an oversize raincoat) and will learn a few excerpts from the work. Developed by Ginelle Chagnon, Danser Joe dans la ville helps to keep the memory of the choreography alive in the body of each dancer, celebrating our shared heritage. A warm welcome to Daniel Villeneuve, who will be co-leading the workshop for the first time!
To conclude the experience, participants will perform the excerpts they have learned before an audience on October 2, at 4:30 p.m. The performance will be followed by a free screening of the film Joe, directed by Bernard Picard (1994), compliments of Radio-Canada.
