Launch of the Joe Choreographic toolkit

Date
October 30, 2023

It is with great joy that we are launching the choreographic toolkit documenting Joe, the iconic piece by Jean-Pierre Perreault, on November 30 at the Cinémathèque Québécoise.

Ginelle Chagnon, writer for the project, conducted a massive research and documentation effort. The result is a magnificent digital project and a print publication that immerse audiences in different components of the work, history, and creative process.

The choreographic toolkit is available in two formats:
– A digital choreographic toolkit, available to all, which provides access to project excerpts and videos in a new, dynamic, appealing interface.
– A print publication with all the components of the toolkit, including the choreographic notes and diagrams that make the revival of Joe possible.

We will feature the launch of the web publication Openings: Perspectives on Choreographic Toolkits and Documentation in Dance – a translation of Ouvrir la boîte. Regards sur les boîtes chorégraphiques et la documentation en danse.

The magnificent graphic design and page layout: Anne-Laure Jean, La DactyloGraphique
Contribution to documentation, along with Ginelle Chagnon: Victoria Côté

The web design of the toolkit: Guillaume Sanfaçon (Viande & Substituts enr.)

We would also like to thank Caisse Desjardins de la culture and SIT Scènes Interactives technologiques, the toolkit’s sponsors.

Finally, huge thanks to our wonderful donors who so generously responded to the call for donations. Your invaluable involvement, which is highlighted in the toolkit, warmed our hearts.
