One of our projects this winter was putting together a fanzine—the brainchild of Catherine Lavoie-Marcus, who coordinated the project.
This small work of art, designed by Emilie Allard and produced by the FJPP, features the traces (notations, drawings and accounts) of ten writers and illustrators who responded in real time to an improvised dance by Hanako Hoshimi-Caines. It is a perfect example of documentation as a creative act. The work offers striking, fragmented perspectives on a one-time performance that was not recorded. It is a profound reflection on the transitory yet persistent nature of dance. Although we can’t hold an official launch at the present time, here’s a sneak preview!
