Perreault Dancer at the Cinémathèque québécoise

Date
April 20, 2022

We enthusiastically invite you to a special evening for the screening of the film Perreault Dancer at the Cinémathèque québécoise on Friday, May 6 at 6:30 p.m.

Perreault Dancer, directed by Tim Southam (screenplay by Andrée Martin, produced by Les Films de l’Isle, Ian Boyd, 2005), is a poignant love letter to Jean-Pierre Perreault. A diverse family of dancers enact the choreographer’s artistic legacy, bringing his memory to life through words, movement, and images.

Perreault Dancer was released to widespread public and critical acclaim. Aline Apostolska of La Presse described it as, “A major film… superb, true and moving… Perreault’s absence is sudden, immense, like a void in the gut.”

The film will be preceded by a brief conversation between director Tim Southam and dancer Marc Boivin, and followed by a discussion with Ian Boyd, Andrée Martin, and artists who danced or worked closely with Jean-Pierre Perreault; Sylvain Émard, Sylviane Martineau, Mark Shaub, Daniel Soulières will talk about the choreographer’s influence on their journey in the arts.

Join us to watch this magnificent film or to see it again and take part in the discussion with the artists!
