Danser Joe at the conference “L’art du divertissement…

Lise Gagnon, Executive Director of the FJPP, will give the presentation “Danser Joe, atelier hors-normes” at this conference on the art of entertainment, on November 25.

Her talk will invite reflection on what the workshop means to the instructors who have professionally danced the piece, as well as participants. How can we transmit a work from the repertoire to amateur dancers? What should we focus on: the movements, the choreographer’s intention, the meaning of the work? How do participants respond to this training workshop? Does the experience change how they see and understand dance? Does it encourage them to continue learning? These are some of the questions this presentation seeks to answer.

Brief description of the conference
“In recent years, there has been a phenomenal increase in works and articles on entertainment. Yet this output pales in comparison with the real and symbolic importance of entertainment in people’s lives. This conference is devoted to diverse forms of entertainment, notably dance. It invites us to consider three components—practice, performance and training—to promote a dynamic history of entertainment and offer a complex portrait of society made up of relationships, personal journeys and legacies . . . ”
