Espace Perreault is pleased to support the presentation of Mélissa Raymond’s doctoral research and creation project entitled Chorégraphier les restes, with dancers Kimberley de Jong and Nicolas Patry, in which they recall their memories of past choreographies danced.
Chorégraphier les restes looks at the memories of dance as they are lived and recalled by dancers. Participating artists are invited to bring out through movement what is etched in the body’s memory from past works danced. This project is based on the concept of the body-archive and the emerging field of ecosomatics to identify the particular qualities of this living archive and its power acting in the present.
This research and creation project attests to the persistence of dance in the body memory of dancers. It celebrates the collective aspect of dance through an ecosystemic vision of creative processes.
For more details, see the Le corps qui cherche project on our website.
The research and creation project was developed as part of a doctorate in art studies and practices under the direction of Johanna Bienaise (Dance Department) and Anne Bénichou (École des arts visuels et médiatiques), in cooperation with Espace Perreault and the support of the Fonds de recherche du Québec (FRQ).
