Belonging — Honour thy father and thy mother

Harold Rhéaume interviews Etienne Lambert dancer in the 2021 version of Les Dix Commandements.

Dancer Etienne Lambert and the choreographer take a look back at the creative process for the commandment Honour Thy Father and Thy Mother. Forging connections with real life – the recent death of Etienne’s father, the pandemic – the creative process for the commandment, under the idea of belonging, is both personal journey and choreographic work. The intimacy and depth of exchanges between the artists would set the tone – Harold explains – for the entire recreation, and, Etienne says, would drive his contribution to the performance, making the solo an ode to the beauty of the transmission. An incredible account of the birth and transformation of a solo that embodies goodwill.
