FAIRE CORPS with Mélanie Demers

Date
Novembre 29, 2023
Production
Mandala Sitù Danse and Espace Perreault
Mélanie Demers, choreographer, performer and director, danced for 10 years with the O’Vertigo company before founding her own company, MAYDAY, in 2007.
Speaking to Marie-Gabrielle Ménard, the performer who prefers problems to solutions talks on stage about her interest in hybridity, chaos and savagery. In her work, Mélanie Demers takes pleasure in hijacking the original meaning of things and the body in order to provoke reflection in the spectator and arouse emotion. She sharpens her creative intuition with three words: “combat, débat, ébat”. In 2021, she was awarded the Grand Prix de la danse de Montréal. For her, the body on stage is always political and the bearer of a discourse.
