For this third interview documenting the creative process behind the marathon project Danse Mutante, Angélique Willkie spoke to Ann Van den Broek, who inherited the segment created by Kettly Noël (Bamako). It’s a fascinating conversation about the artist’s creative process and how she was inspired, not by the movements and props she had been given, but rather by the essential message of the previous segment. The result is an extremely precise work that carries within it the intentions and tensions, battles and hope of the works that preceded it. An interview filmed by Xavier Curnillon, co-produced by the FJPP and Mayday.
