Founded in 2003, La 2e Porte à Gauche is a choreographic creation platform specializing in artistic research and development. Its projects question the performance space, foster collaboration between artists, and rethink the relationship with the audience in choreographic creation.
La 2e Porte à Gauche thus seeks to place the artistic process at the center of reflection on the relationship between art and the public. It is not enough to have a professional mediator engage in product placement — the artist is the person best positioned to reflect on the place art occupies in our world.
La 2e Porte à Gauche represents 15 years of creation, 37 editions of Bal Moderne for over 50 events, more than fifteen projects, and an impressive number of performers, choreographers, and collaborators who have worked together on memorable projects…
From 2003 to 2018, La 2e Porte à Gauche certainly left its mark on the contemporary dance landscape in Quebec and beyond.
In 2023, it approached Espace Perreault to secure its website and pass on its many archival documents to the public, putting into perspective all those years marked by projects brimming with creativity.
In order to make the collective’s achievements accessible to the dance community once again, Espace Perreault proceeded in 2025 to migrate the La 2e Porte à Gauche website and is pleased to share it on its platform.
